Merrill Lynch June Choice Award Winner
Listen…can you hear them? Like the echoes that blow through a forest on a warm summer evening, Ching Ma’s “Singing Tree” conjures up those forgotten melodies! This ink and acrylic piece is captivating in light and design which transcends Chinese poetic moods branch to branch from the center of the work to its very outer edge.
Striving to become a member of a broader art world, Ching, who was born in Taiwan, relocated to the United States in 1990. As a Chinese calligrapher, she started her art journey by creating traditional Chinese paintings. Ever evolving, she enjoys utilizing both Chinese and Western art material to record her visions with more freedom and possibilities in techniques and ideas.
Ching focuses her paintings on simplistic beauty. The Hong Kong Art Review once wrote, “Ching is a noteworthy artist. She skillfully applies Chinese brush strokes on Western canvas, transforming traditional techniques of Chinese ink and water on her acrylic paintings…into a modern platform.”
A member of The Gallery at the City Market for eight years, she has also exhibited her work ten times in various Telfair Art Fairs. Collectors around the globe possess Ching’s inspiring blend of Chinese and Western cultures including filmmaker/actor,
