CONGRATULATIONS LINDA BLOUNT
JULY CHOICE AWARD WINNING ARTIST
By Betsy Slocum
It’s a surefire guarantee that you’ll experience weak knees, rapid heartbeats, and a shortness of breath once you lay your eyes upon “Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Love”, Linda Blount’s Choice Award winning piece. Created in acrylics so life-like you’d swear Elvis’ deep baby blues are gazing right into your very soul, this work embodies a mix of the aging looks of the iconic song master throughout his career! Complete with the signature rhinestones on his lapel, Elvis is definitely “in-the-house” for the LAA’s music themed July show and beyond appearing daily 9-4 Monday through Friday until September 6.
A well-known figure in the Savannah art community, Linda and her husband, Allen moved to the Landings several years ago from north Georgia. She states, “When people see my paintings, I want them to feel a connection between themselves and the subject. It is my hope that the eyes of the viewer are drawn to my work by that visual communication”!
She goes on to say that, “When painting, your eyes learn a new language”. Whether it’s a sea or landscape, still life, street or farm scene, rooster, or one of Linda’s “famous” cows, your sight mooooves from the subtlety of color to light and shapes you’ve never before paid attention to.
A winner of several awards to include those from Quinlan Art Center, Georgia Art League, Flowery Branch Artisans, The Landings Art Association’s Spring Shows, and the Merrill Lynch Atrium Gallery, Linda’s works may be observed in several local galleries. She is currently in residence at the Signature Gallery located in City Market, downtown Savannah or may be contacted directly at 404-312-8323 or LindaBlount@comcast.net for a consultation on a custom work or existing piece.
