This Week’s News at The Merrill Lynch/LAA Atrium Gallery…
CONGRATULATIONS JONI ARB
Merrill Lynch April Choice Award Winner
by Betsy Slocum
The 4th of July has come early this year due to Joni Arb’s Choice Award winning piece in acrylic entitled “Floral Fireworks”! The flowers quite literally burst off the canvas and explode in a sparkling array of vibrant color. Excitement usually abounds when one of Joni’s art works is in residence. She has an uncanny knack for choosing subject matter that is both striking to the eye and pleasing to the senses.
Joni’s first love of watercolor has expanded to include award winning pieces in both oils and acrylics. She believes “the natural beauty of the low country provides great opportunities to expand art inspiration, knowledge, experiences, and overall enjoyment”.
Her pieces utilize clean, vivid colors which provide contrast to the many natural hues of the surrounding areas within Savannah. She enjoys using the palette knife for stronger, bolder strokes which helps achieve her noted look.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Joni and her family moved to The Landings over nine years ago. She was fortunate to live and study art in many different locations within the United States including Michigan, Texas, and Kentucky. These moves allowed her to become inspired by many talented artists, landscapes, and various techniques. She states nature is a work of art and “one secret to good painting is capturing the natural beauty and color without overworking the piece”.
For information on her current or custom art work you can reach Joni at email@example.com or 912-598-8266. Her award winning piece will be on display at the LAA/Merrill Lynch Atrium Gallery through May 31. The Gallery is located in the Landings Village adjacent to the library in the Merrill Lynch Building and is open to the general public Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. WHERE IS MY PAINTING????
If you are missing a piece of your artwork, it just might be a piece that our volunteers are tearing their hair out over. Many of you forget to pick up your work after a show. This puts undo stress and inconvenience on our volunteers, Merrill Lynch and the Plantation Pro shop.
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE AND MARK YOUR CALENDAR IN ADVANCE TO REMEMBER TO PICK UP YOUR WORK, OR ASSIGN A FRIEND TO PICK IT UP FOR YOU.
You spend hours creating and we are miffed why anyone would want to subject their work to the perils of being in the Plantation pro shop closet or maintenance closet at Merrill Lynch. They can be easily damaged, lost or stolen.
