I have a deep respect and awe for the natural world. Personally, for me, every natural material or object that I collect for my work, has inherent qualities that are expressive by nature. With my found, and recycled objects, I am often dealing with the weight of their previous incarnation – Which create both beauty and challenges in my work. My work is a very personal expression of Skidaway Islands raw beauty and my art is fundamentally derived from the observance and indigenous gatherings of the islands environment; An environment that is enveloped in richness and charm. When walking around the island collecting “findings” such as naturally fallen sticks, shells, rocks, and other flora, I am collecting, sketching, or painting, these items with the intent of repurposing them into what I hope is not just art. Yet an inspiration, or gift, that invokes a heightened awareness and appreciation of our surroundings and takes you on a special journey to be more inspired and connected to the deeper world and natural beauty around each of us. With this I welcome you to MarrCliff Studios. A gallery of native affordable beauty from Skidaway Island Georgia.
